Not strictly a spa resort but still a relaxing break offering something different on the shores of the “Hungarian Sea”. Also used as getaway programme for our longer stay clients in Budapest and for those with longer breaks between dental appointments.

Covering an area of 595 km/sq, its length is 78 km and average width is 7.7km, Lake Balaton, Europe’s largest freshwater lake, is a jewel hidden from West Europe.

Unlike the glacier fed Alpine lakes of Italy, Switzerland and Austria, Balaton is river fed, resulting in its waters remaining warm during the summer months. Grass or sand beaches with shallow safe waters, prices of ice-cream and soft drinks less than 25p, Balaton, is a great holiday choice for families with children.

The old town of KESZTHELY still retains a past character with many small streets and 19th century buildings. The Baroque stately house, former home to the Festetics family, is now a museum and one of the finest monuments in the Balaton region. BALATONFURED is where recreational bathing in the region began and still remains today one of the Lake’s most popular resorts for families. Lake Balaton has become synonymous with good wine and the leading wine region is BADACSONY, famous for producing wines such as Pinot Gris.

The season is from April to October only, although the spa resort of Lake Heviz is only 10 – 15 minutes away from Kesthely and is open all season to enable one to still explore this area.

Hotel Helikon ***

Situated in Keszthely directly on the lake shore with magnificent views of the lake. The town itself is within easy walking distance to enjoy its old baroque atmosphere.
All rooms have bath, shower, wc, hairdryer, telephone, satellite TV, mini-bar and lake view. The hotel also boasts a large indoor swimming pool, sauna, solarium, tennis courts and fitness centre.

Situated in Balatonfured 50 m from the shore of the Lake Balaton, with panoramic view over the lake and the Tihany Peninsula.
