SOPRON ELIZABETH HOSPITAL

The Elizabeth Hospital, owned by the Sopron Local Government, was officially opened on 23rd June 1919. The hospital underwent major redevelopment between 1992 and 2002, realising a state-of-the-art modern hospital offering a health service of the highest European standards.

The hospital boasts 519 beds with 15 clinics, 5 diagnostic departments each with a specialist consultant heading that department. The new surgical department has recovery rooms with special climate controlling systems to ensure suitable temperature and sterile conditions. All operating tables, monitoring systems and surgical equipment are of the latest technology. The eight beds Intensive Ward also have the latest technology and equipment with manufacturer names such as Siemens and Toshiba etc.

Due to its closeness to the Austrian border the reconstruction included an excellent private wing to cater for the new and upcoming industry of medical tourism. The wing provides large comfortable rooms with 2 –4 beds and it is possible to arrange private use. If required a family member or friend can share the room. The rooms have satellite TV, fridge and en-suite facilities.

The Elizabeth Hospital is also a teaching hospital attached to Debrecen Medical University.

The hospital puts great emphasis on cleanliness with beds and mattresses being sterilised after each patient. Hungary has one of the lowest MRSA rates in Europe and it has been non-existent in the Sopron hospital. All meals are prepared on site with a choice of menu. The hospital also has a café where drinks and hot or cold food can be purchased.

All hospital staff, nurse and doctors, meet the hospital’s vision of providing a high standard and caring health service.

SOPRON TOWN

Sopron is a delightful picturesque Baroque town in Northwest Hungary. Situated in the foothills of the Alps on the Austrian border, the town has a wonderful clean-air climate. The Elizabeth Hospital is in the town centre and the pedestrianised old town is within walking distance. The town makes a pleasant stay for those patients that have a longer recovery period and for friends or relatives that may be accompanying you.

GETTING THERE

Sopron is 45 mins – 1 hour from Vienna, Austria or Bratislava, Slovakia airports. This is easier for you to fly to as opposed to Budapest, which is a 2 hours train ride. Your price includes us meeting and transferring you from and to either Vienna or Bratislava airports.

SOPRON OFFICE

As a dedicated facilitator of health services to Hungary, we have our own office based in Sopron. Our Sopron staff, in addition to meeting you at the airport, will visit you in hospital on a regular basis to make sure that all your needs are catered for.
