Situated close to Lake Balaton is the internationally famed spa resort town of Heviz. Heviz has sprung up on the shores of Lake Heviz the largest thermal water lake in continental Europe. In summer the water temperature is generally 33 – 35 degrees centigrade and rarely drops below 26 degrees centigrade in winter making it possible to bathe and enjoy the spa waters all year round. The bottom of the lake has the special organic Heviz Mud that is used by the resort hotels in their spa therapies.
